Fundamentals of Yoga: 6-week Beginner's series

- Description: This 6-week introduction to yoga course offers students an introduction to the fundamentals of Hatha yoga including the yoga postures, breathing techniques and yoga philosophy. We will break down poses so we can better understand them, be safe in them, and flow though them smoothly, intentionally, and deeply. Yogic philosophies, meditation, and chanting will be interwoven into our practice giving us a complete yogic experience allowing our minds to expand along with our bodies. This course is appropriate for new students as well as those wanting a deeper understanding of the basics.

Preparing the Body for Advanced Asana Sequences

- Description: In this practice we will build muscle strength without compromising flexibility. Many contemporary Hatha yoga practitioners turn to the gym to build and strengthen the body to help them gain the strength needed to do more advanced Asana sequences. Weightlifting can be a spiritual discipline when the mind is focused in the Divine direction, but weightlifting has been shown to be damaging to the muscles of the body causing compression, strain, and tearing. It also causes a loss in flexibility. This workshop series will teach you how to strengthen the body as part of your spiritual practice using calisthenics-like positions of the body based on the Yogic arts, Chi Gung and Tai Chi. Exercises using the body's weight as resistance have been shown to be the most healthy way to gain body strength. As the body builds in strength the muscle of the body gain more weight creating more resistance in a continues feed back loop. We will begin the class by tuning in to the divine frequency inherent in all, then we will move into light stretching and opening followed by different exercises to strengthen and prepare the body for more advanced Asana sequences. We will then close by releasing the muscles of the body and then going into a guided relaxation followed by a short meditation.

KripaShakti: The Blessing of Divine Grace

- Description: Kripa means Grace or blessing. Shakti is the dynamic energy accumulated and released through out the Spirit Body complex from Sadhana (spiritual practices). This practice is called KripaShakti, because it facilitates the release of this Divine Shakti into your life. The practice begins with tuning in, followed by a complete pranyama (breadth control) practice to purify and clean the nadis (subtle energy channels) that run through the body. We will then move into powerful sun salutations to accumulate energy and circulate it through the body. After that we will go in to deep opening yoga asana's (postures) to realign the deeper levels of the energy body. We will integrate this energy and the shift it opens through a deep Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) technique. The practice will close with a meditation and then we will transfer the blessings of this practice to all of creation.
